Meet Lindsay

Creativity is an integral part of who I am and what I do. I am, and have always been, inspired by the world around me. For as long as I can remember, I have been drawing, crafting, lettering and designing. These never-ending artistic interests led me to study fine art and graphic design in college and graduate school, work as a graphic designer at a couple of large advertising firms, teach design and typography at the college level, and eventually start my own little stationery and monogram boutique.

In 2009, after moving to Chicago, I got engaged to the wonderful man I now call my husband. During the process of planning our wedding, I decided  to design EVERYTHING for our big day from the save the dates to the invitation suite to all the day-of materials. I also sat down and drew my first custom monogram that served as a unifying element (a logo of sorts) for our wedding design. As soon as our invitations were in the mail, I had a couple of other engaged friends ask me to help design their wedding stationery. I saw the opportunity and took it – Chena Design was born.

Chena is my first baby (I had an actual, precious little girl in 2013). I adore working one on one with my clients, and creating the perfect stationery and designs for big life moments. My boutique design studio is small, unique, and intimate. I want to build strong relationships with my clients while creating beautiful custom monograms, wedding invitations and other stationery goods. I firmly believe that everyone, no matter their budget, should be able to experience quality, custom and timeless design.

I absolutely love what I do and love helping people bring their visual dreams to life. Feel free to contact me about design, your inspirations, or anything else that comes to mind!

What do I do when I am not designing? You can find me spending most of my free time with my wonderful little girl, she is the light of my life and a creative inspiration, my loving husband and our crazy pets (Russel the cat and Beckett the dog). As a family we love exploring Chicago, traveling, visiting the zoo, and eating good food. Whenever I find a few minutes to myself, you can find me reading a great book.

Where does the name come from? Well, it is based on a childhood nickname, and seemed fitting for my studio since it has been a part of me for as long as my creative dreams have.
